I'm Justin McKevitt, a dedicated therapist with an LMSW and 3 years of active experience. My professional journey was shaped by my honorable service in the US Army, which instilled in me a deep appreciation for resilience, discipline, and an understanding of the challenges unique to our military community.
Throughout my career, I've had the privilege to work in diverse settings, from the criminal justice system to dialysis and transplant units, substance abuse programs, and even outreach initiatives for the homeless. Each of these experiences has deepened my understanding of human resilience, the complexities of health and societal systems, and the interplay of physical and mental well-being.
In therapy, I utilize a pragmatic yet decolonized approach, ensuring every facet of a client's identity is acknowledged and respected. Mindfulness remains a cornerstone of my practice, guiding clients to be present, aware, and actively engaged in their therapeutic journey. By integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), the Change Model, and mindfulness techniques, I tailor each session to resonate deeply with an individual's unique life narrative.
Standing as a proud ally for the LGBTQ+ community, I've also dedicated myself to supporting those navigating relationship challenges, substance abuse issues, and the intricacies of gender and sexual identity.
For me, therapy isn't just a profession—it's a commitment. A commitment to understanding, inclusion, and building genuine connections with each individual, one session at a time.
Feel free to reach out to me via email as I offer a FREE 15-minute phone consultation.
